passarella ident
The Passarella ident was conceived by Danny Passarella, in collaboration with legendary L.A. Compton–based artist Darryl Davis.
Back in the mid 1980’s Darryl’s visual language shaped the very foundations of West Coast electro and early hip-hop—designing iconic sleeves for the Unknown DJ, Dr. Dre’s first group The World Class Wreckin’ Cru, and of course the iconic Ruthless Records ident.
Drawing directly from the energy and electric futurism of his mid-1980s artwork, the Passarella ident channels that era’s raw graphic power, reimagining its attitude and atmosphere for a new context while staying true to the spirit of the originals.
